Baca-Villa and the 17 SDGoals for People, for Planet

Baca-Villa and the 17 SDGoals for People, for Planet.

Baca-Villa and the 17 SDGoals for People, for Plane.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the world’s best plan to build a better world for people and our planet by 2030. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the SDGs are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the environment. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, equality, and job opportunities while tackling climate change and working to preserve our ocean and forests.

Baca-Villa can, therefore, confirm that we are focusing on the following SDG goals:
1. No poverty – we offer jobs to more than 100 employees and poor farmers so that they can lift themselves and their extended families out of poverty.
2. No hunger – we aim to produce moringa, one of the most nutritious plants in the world, to alleviate hunger
4. Quality education – through the PPP we offer farmers the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development
5. Gender equality – we do our best to hire at least 50% of women to ensure that they can support their families independently
6. Clean water and sanitation – we have installed a water filtration system at the factory that now meets the minimum standards of the World Health Organization for drinking water and provides access to all employees
8. Decent work and economic growth – we employ more than 100 disadvantaged Cambodians and pay them well above the minimum wage
9. Industry, innovation, and infrastructure – we strive for innovation through our PPP with the support of Pierre Fabre in their research and development efforts
12. Responsible consumption and production – we are certified organic that specifically relates to responsible and sustainable production
17. Partnerships for goals – we have specifically pursued our PPP to address many of the issues identified in the SDGs.

We, therefore, focus specifically on 9 of the 17 SDGs in our daily activities. I think you would find it a challenge to identify another small company that does so much to achieve SDGs.

SDG-with-Baca-Villa

And we continue to look and find out whether we can achieve other goals.

First research of high polyphenols in Moringa Oleifera leaves

The first research of high polyphenols in Moringa Oleifera leaves.

10-2019

This research is the first comprehensive identification of conserved and novel miRNAs in Moringa Oleifera leaf, seed, and callus (stressed and non-stressed).

The first research of high polyphenols in Moringa Oleifera leaves.

This dataset represents an important supplement to the existing Moringa Oleifera miRNA database and shall be useful in understanding the possible role for enhancing biosynthesis of pharmacologically important phytochemicals by plant miRNAs during biotic and abiotic stresses.

In the past decade, Moringa Oleifera has gained growing attention for its nutraceutical and pharmacological functions as well as potential benefits for human health; several studies have demonstrated the great number of bioactive compounds contained in leaves, seeds, pods, and flowers1,2,4. A large number of these bioactive compounds (such as secondary metabolites) might explain the pharmacological properties of this “miracle tree”. Recent studies have confirmed the high content of polyphenols (such as flavonoids and phenolic acids) in Moringa Oleifera leaves65. These secondary metabolites are synthesized in the plant for its specialized need, in particular, ecological conditions; unlike primary metabolites, secondary metabolites are directly involved in the defense mechanism against environmental injuries. In humans, Moringa Oleifera polyphenols (such as flavonoids) are involved in protection against chronic diseases associated with oxidative stress, including cardiovascular disease and cancer4.

Abstract
MicroRNAs, a class of small, non-coding RNAs, play important roles in plant growth, development and stress response by negatively regulating gene expression. Moringa Oleifera Lam. plant has many medical and nutritional uses; however, little attention has been dedicated to its potential for the bio production of active compounds. In this study, 431 conserved and 392 novel microRNA families were identified and 9 novel small RNA libraries constructed from leaf, and cold stress treated callus, using high-throughput sequencing technology. Based on the Moringa Oleifera genome, the microRNA repertoire of the seed was re-evaluated. qRT-PCR analysis confirmed the expression pattern of 11 conserved microRNAs in all groups. MicroRNA159 was found to be the most abundant conserved microRNA in leaf and callus, while microRNA393 was most abundantly expressed in the seed. The majority of predicted microRNA target genes were transcriptional factors involved in plant reproduction, growth/development, and abiotic/biotic stress response. In conclusion, this is the first comprehensive analysis of microRNAs in Moringa Oleifera leaf and callus which represents an important addition to the existing Moringa Oleifera seed microRNA database and allows for possible exploitation of plant microRNAs induced with abiotic stress, as a tool for bio-enrichment with pharmacologically important phytochemicals.

Cambodia approved cold-pressed oils

Cambodia approved cold-pressed oils.

Cambodia approved cold-pressed oils.

Cold-pressed retain healthy antioxidants that are otherwise damaged by being exposed to heat. … Most cold-pressed oils are rich in vitamin E, which has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. They are also rich sources of oleic acid that help boost your immune system.

Cold-pressed Oils are less energy than other oil extraction techniques and also environmental friendly.
It has also an environmentally friendly use with no solvents. In other words, cold-press extraction does not involve either heat or chemical extraction.

These oils have better nutritive properties than refined oils.
The cold-pressed oils can add to food as natural antioxidative additives due to phytochemicals and as fatty acid supplements due to invaluable double bond fatty acid.

The demand for natural oils continues to increase for the cosmetics and food industries.
Cold-pressed oils retain all their taste, aroma and nutritional value, making these oils excellent for cooking and skin care needs.

For that reason, we started cold pressing oils at Baca-Villa in 2017 on high-quality certified cold-press, and we gave workshops by a specialized cold-pressed consultancy from France to press the pressed oils to the highest possible quality and in accordance with the international pharmaceutical standard.

Because cold-pressed oil is processed at lower temperatures does not alter the properties of the oil which contains a higher phenolic and nutrient content than expeller-pressed oil. Cold-pressed oils retain all their flavor, aroma, and nutritional value, making these oils great for cooking and skincare requirements.

Cambodia approved cold-pressed oils. By means of our advanced German Cold-Pressed oil machine and a hired French consultancy specializing in cold-pressed oils and in collaboration with the ITC University of Cambodia, we can analyze all cold-pressed oils for Fatty acids composition and peroxide index. All oils can be further tested extensively on the available qualified GC-MS analyzer in accordance with international pharmaceutical standards.

Baca-Villa at Cambodia is an approved cold-pressed oil supplier that conform to the international pharmaceutical cold-pressed oil standards.

Who is growing faster Weed or Moringa in rain season.

The Moringa tree grows incredibly fast but Weeds too.
It is September, in the middle of the heavy rainy season of Cambodia.

It is hard to catch in the rainy season with weed control.
The weeds beat the fast-growing Moringa.

Man and power are used to remove the weeds without pesticides.

So also start growing new moringa trees again but this time in leaves from a local tree.

The big advantage is that the pant can later simply be placed in the ground with leaves and trees, without plastic ….

But a lot of extra work because all the leaves have to be pre-folded into a pot that will contain the Moringa seed. Needless to say what a job this is.
